He furthered that the Limkokwing University was a new higher learning institution in Sierra Leone that had its origin from Malaysia. He ascertained that the university prepared it students with modern technology and creativity that helped them becomes self reliance.
The university administrator established that Sierra Leone had already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Limkokwing University for its establishment in the country and hence, became the 166 campus of the university worldwide. Bai Kabia uttered that university had already created employment for many young Sierra Leoneans who were currently serving as lecturers at the university.
The Marketing and Public Relations Director of the university, Nthethe Kokome referred to the meeting as a unique one, as it was a fraction of the university’s preparation for its official opening, by the country’s first gentle man President Koroma.
The Senior Vice President of the University Dr. Gil Pharn expressed his satisfaction in the amazing welcome they had received in Sierra Leone and further considered the university to be very lucky to have received acceptance from the president of Sierra Leone to officially extend the university Sierra Leone chapter. She stated that the Limkokwing University was an unconventional university, while adding that the university was ranked amongst the top 300 universities in the Asia.
She explained that the university started some twenty years ago with a novel curriculum that was an industry related and filled in an industrial and professional learning gap that was not available in Malaysia. She further emphasized that currently; the Limkokwing University was ranked second on facebook and amongst the best five leading universities in the world by twitter. Dr. Pharn further intimated all that in Sierra Leone; the university had one thousand and sixty-two (1,062) students pursuing degree, diploma and certificate courses in various disciplines. She concluded by telling all that the opening ceremony would be included a tour around the university campus and various exhibitions which would depict the activities of the university.
In an interview with the head of the Students’ Service Department of the university to know how best the students were prepared for the official opening of the university, Suliaman Conteh informed this medium that the students were more than prepared for the opening of their university as they had long been waiting for it. He furthered that the students had embarked on voluntarily cleaning of not only the university campus but its surroundings as well. Suliaman said that for the past one month, students had been involved in different trainings all in the name of making the official opening of their university a unique one. “My students are more than the word prepared for the official opening of their university.” He ended.
