A team from the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security met with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) Strategy Team has revealed plans to discuss the 100-day Strategic Roadmap for the Feed Salone program.

The team from the Presidential Initiative thanked the MAFS Strategy Team for their work on the 100-day plan so far and for providing inputs from different pillars of the program. They also described the team as a “knowledge bank” that the Presidential Initiative will rely on to plan and implement the Feed Salone program.

The meeting discussed the following key areas of the 100-day plan: “Increasing agricultural production through Mechanization and improve seeds; Improving access to markets for farmers; Reducing post-harvest losses; Promoting nutrition, women and youth inclusion; Building resilience to climate change and Agricultural cutting-edge technologies among other areas.

The Team agreed to continue meeting with stakeholders to finalise the 100-day plan and to launch the program in October.

The Feed Salone program is a major initiative of the Government of Sierra Leone to address food insecurity and malnutrition in the country. The program is expected to create jobs, boost the economy, and improve the health and well-being of Sierra Leoneans.
