The Administrator of the Sierra Leone Airport Authority who also doubled as the chair person of the occasion, Mohamed Sesay said that Muslims in Sierra Leone are currently observing the holy month of Ramadan, and that the gesture was part  their  corporate social responsibilities .

He told beneficiaries that the donation includes bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil together with physical cash to suit the necessary provision required for Ramadan.

The General Manger of the Sierra Leone Airport Authority,  Idris Nabih Fofana  in his statement mentioned  that the airport belongs to the people of Masoila , owning to the fact  that the land was owned by the people before the  government  of Sierra Leone constructed the Freetown International Airport.

He told his audience that the people of  Lungi  should be proud  as the Freetown International Airport which was the country’s one and only  airport is located in Masoila , adding that  the way and manner in which  the  community people were  using the airport to dispose trash and other human  waste  was very   frustrating.

Idris Fofanah stressed that the community people should be the watch dog of the airport and that they should not be seen filtering the airport with trash and other waste from their home and reminded them that the airport was not a public dustbin.

Fofana further reaffirmed that the communities were the direct beneficiaries of airport and made mentioned of the scholarships that was distributed to the pupils in that part of the country.

In her statement, the Director of Sierra Leone Airport Authority, Gladys Branche stated that it is important to give zakat, especially in month of Ramadan when the Muslims all over the world focused and worship Allah and asked him for goodness and forgiveness.

 She further expressed gratitude to the community people for allowing the government to established airport in Lungi , owning to the fact that  if it were not  airport  farming activities should have been  going on where the airport was constructed.

The Paramount Chief Kaffu Bullum Chiefdom, Bai Shebora Gbereh the third extended appreciation to officials of Sierra Leone Airport Authority for their kind gesture towards the various Muslim communities, adding that they were enjoying a very good relationship with official of the authority.

He commented that the authority had laid their worries to rest in terms of food stuff and went on to caution the community people to stop using the airport as trash bin, while assuring that the authority would continue to sensitize and create awareness on how the community people should maintain the beauty of the airport.

The event was climaxed as the SLAA Board Chairman, Lawyer Elvis Kargbo made the donation to the Muslim community on behalf of the Sierra Leone Airport Authority.
