She said the accused then asked her for sex, but that she refused. She said the accused then threatened that if she refused, he would tell her aunt about top up card monies that she misappropriated.

“After he threatened me, I removed my clothes and he also removed his clothes and had sexual intercourse with me. After the act, I observed blood discharging from my vagina and my stomach started aching. I had thought that if I refused him and he explained to my aunt about the misappropriation, she would flog me,” she testified.

She added that after the sexual intercourse, the alleged perpetrator told her not to disclose what had transpired between them.

The 13-year-old said the accused had several intercourses with her after that incident until one time when she visited her father and her step-mother noticed that she was not looking healthy as usual.

The victim further explained to the court that they immediately interviewed her about her health and she explained that it was the accused that had been having sexual intercourse with her whenever her aunt is not around.

She said her father then took her to the Regent Police Post where she was issued with a medical report form.

The victim said she was later taken to the Rainbo Centre at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH) for treatment and later returned the medical form to the police and made statement.

Court records reveal that the alleged perpetrator Mohamed Turay, is 33 years old and is a mason. He was arraigned on Monday 25th February, 2019 at the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Court No.7 presided over by Abdul Sheriff. His bail was refused and he was remanded at the Freetown Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road. The matter comes up again Wednesday 27th February.
