The Management of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has held its first management meeting for 2023. The event attracted Directors, Managers and Regional Managers, Ag. Managers, Deputy Managers, Senior Officers and other vital officers of the Company.

The focus of the meeting was among other things, to discuss and set performance targets relating to the key deliverables of the company for 2023, enhancing the Company’s Revenue Generation, to commence implementation of a maintenance regime, to upscale the service of quality water supply and to deliberate on the Annual Work Plan and Reporting for 2022.

Managing Director of SALWACO, Ing. George Lamin Vandi informed the gathering that for the Company of achieve its desired results, team work has to take centre stage.

He admonished all present to desist from embarking on activities that have the proclivity to water down the institution. He said that 2023 and beyond should be years of deliverables and that all members of staff are expected to work towards such enviable trajectories.

The MD added that it was important for all staff members to be able to leave up to expectations, adding that such will go a long way to adding up to the Company’s acceptability. Members of staff present appreciated MD and management for the all-important meeting. They spoke on a range of issues from the improvement of staff welfare to more capacity building and enhancement, adding that such positive ventures will continually motivate staff members.

Other discussions showed that SALWACO is still dealing with a host of debt issues because a good number of customers have not paid fares. This cuts across most areas of operations and tunes are now exceeding 7billion, old Leones, for the 2022 Financial Year alone. As a remedy, management looks forward to devising better and more prudent debt collection strategies for 2023 and beyond.

The MD, Directors of various units, Regional Managers, Human Resource Manager, Head of Internal Audit, Stakeholders’ and Media Relations Manager (represented by Senior Communications Officer), ICT Manager, M & E Manager, Ag. Admin Manager, Ag. Commercial Manager, Deputy Operations Manager and other vital staff were all in attendance.
