Samura Kamara Hosts World Ambassadors

At in a ceremony held in the Directors’ Conference hall on Tower Hill in Freetown, the visiting Ambassadors/High Commissioner presented copies of their Letters of Credence separately in accordance with traditional and diplomatic practice.

Making brief statements prior to presenting their respective Letters of Credence to Minister Samura Kamara, the Ambassadors/High Commissioner paid special tribute to the government and people of Sierra Leone, families of victims of Ebola and the recent mudslide and flash flood disasters across the country.

The Foreign envoys also discussed several issues aimed at enhancing the bilateral and multilateral relations with the Republic of Sierra Leone and further emphasised the need to cooperate on issues of common interest particularly on political and economic interests.

The foreign envoys thanked the minister and staff for the reception accorded them and underlined their interest and full availability for further engagements in broadening and scaling up cooperation in areas such as agriculture, sports, education, energy, and trade.

Welcoming the four foreign envoys to Sierra Leone, Dr. Samura M. W. Kamara wished them success in executing their mandates. He assured them of the full support of his ministry both at bilateral and multilateral levels.

Dr. Kamara extended profound thanks and appreciation through the ambassadors to their respective governments for the show of solidarity and warm support during the Ebola scourge and the recent mudslide and flood disasters in Sierra Leone.

The minister highlighted some of the bilateral achievements and/or mutual benefits between Sierra Leone, Liberia, India, Vietnam and Hungary in the areas of education, sports, health, agriculture, solar energy, among others.

“I am very optimistic that there are still several ways to continue to build upon these relationships especially in the area of trade and investment.” Dr. Samura M. W. Kamara concluded.

The ambassadors/high commissioners are expected to present their Letters of Credence to His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma at State House today 5th September.
