He has applauded the efforts of World leaders in promoting peace and security across the globe. “Global peace is possible and we have to work together for it” Dr. Sengeh remarked.

He noted that the protracted conflicts between Israel and Palestine must be looked at in the spectacles of the Israeli/Hamas situation which begs for global condemnation and attention as more lives continue to be lost every day.

Global leaders, he mentioned must vigorously and persistently pursue a consensus based on a just and mutually acceptable solutions, consistent with the relevant UN resolutions and global International laws. He further emphasised that those persons who are responsible for these global glitches must be held accountable.

Dr. Sengeh stated Sierra Leone’s position in the prolonged Palestinian/Israeli conflict by announcing that “Sierra Leone calls for the immediate release of all hostages, and without conditions.” He further reiterated his country’s concern over the conflict in the Gaza Strip in which thousands of lives are lost every day including women and children.

The Chief Minister also expressed his nation’s deepest condolences to families across the globe who have lost their loved ones in the escalating conflicts in the Middle East. He acknowledges the engagement and role of the Security Council since the start of the conflicts.

Against that backdrop, Dr. Sengeh applauded the appointment of Sigrid Kaag as Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaze. He also highlighted his country’s openness to work with Ms. Kaag in future endeavours.

Dr. Sengeh called for a minimum requirement of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to effect the implementation of any humanitarian operations

In conclusion, he outlined his country’s observation and resolutions as such: He expresses deep concern over the continued military occupation of Gaza by Israeli forces and therefore rejects any attempt to remove Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank either temporarily or permanently.
