The Sierra Leone Police has in a Press Statement dated 11th October 2023, informed the public that they received a letter from a self-identified group known as the “Disenfranchised Members of the All People’s Congress Party.”

This group has formally requested permission from the Inspector General of Police to stage a protest during the Peace Mediation Meeting. The letter, attributed to a certain Sahr Philip Mani who claims to be its leader, includes a contact number (080681442).

The Sierra Leone Police Administration acknowledges that this letter has been widely circulated on social media, prompting the need for a public response to clarify the situation.

It’s worth noting that the letter, dated 4th October 2023, and addressed to the Inspector General of Police, lacks a recognized physical address. Despite efforts to contact the purported leader for discussions, all attempts have been unsuccessful.

Internal inquiries have revealed that the name of the signatory is unverifiable, and calls made to the provided phone number (080681442) have gone unanswered.

The Sierra Leone Police wishes to inform the public that permission has not been granted to this self-identified group or any other entity to protest in the vicinity of the proposed dialogue and mediation venue.

The police further emphasizes that any individuals or groups attempting to disrupt the mediation process with a concealed protest within or around the venue will be in violation of the provisions of the Public Order Amendment Act, 2020. This will result in a legal and justifiable response from the Sierra Leone Police.
