The Sierra Leone Football Association, in partnership with FIFA, has commenced a three-day stakeholder engagement in Freetown focused on the presentation of Sierra Leone’s FIFA Amateur Football Environment Analysis Country Report.
The exercise, which began on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Football Association Secretariat, forms part of FIFA’s global initiative aimed at assessing and strengthening amateur and grassroots football structures across member associations worldwide.
The FIFA Amateur Football Environment Analysis seeks to evaluate key areas including football management and resources, competitions, clubs, education, futsal, beach soccer, mini-football, football development programmes, and school football. The initiative is designed to support FIFA’s broader objective of increasing participation and expanding access to football at all levels.
Representing FIFA at the engagement are Regional Technical Consultants Ali Mwebe and Serame Ezekiel Letsoaka, who are leading discussions and interactive sessions with stakeholders throughout the programme.
On the opening day, the FIFA delegation met with SLFA officials, including General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh, Deputy General Secretary IshmailSaidu Kanu, Technical Director John Edward Keister, and heads of departments at the Secretariat.
Discussions focused on identifying priority areas and establishing the framework for the stakeholder consultations scheduled over the next two days.
The second day of the programme will see FIFA present its findings to members of the SLFA Executive Committee and Secretariat staff. On the final day, the engagement will be expanded to include a broader range of football stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education, football clubs, academies, schools, universities, private sector organizations, and regional football associations.
The initiative underscores the commitment of both FIFA and the SLFA to strengthening grassroots and amateur football in Sierra Leone through improved planning, stakeholder collaboration, and sustainable development strategies aimed at increasing participation in the game nationwide.
