President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has launched the Wusum Stadium fence project in Makeni as part of efforts to improve football infrastructure across the country.
President Babadi, who was accompanied by members of the SLFA Executive Committee, said the project demonstrates his commitment to integrity and delivering on promises made to develop the game.
He stressed that integrity is demonstrated by fulfilling commitments, noting that his promise to support football development was made on moral grounds and must be honoured.
Addressing stakeholders and community members, the SLFA President said the Association is focused on football development rather than personal interests.
He thanked the entire Executive Committee for their collective support towards the project and ongoing reforms in football administration.
President BBD disclosed that he is committing funds toward improving the stadium’s facilities, including sanitation works in the dressing rooms. The intervention includes plans to dig a borehole, connect it to toilet facilities, change tiles, and upgrade the dressing rooms.
Of the estimated 75,000 US dollars required, 40,000 dollars has already been committed to the project, alongside an additional 20,000 dollars for the borehole and toilet.
President Babadi described Wusum Stadium as a community infrastructure and called on residents to take ownership of the project by monitoring and safeguarding it.
According to him, every district in Sierra Leone will benefit from similar development projects, with plans to further upgrade Wusum Stadium and other fields nationwide by 2027 through FIFA funding.
The SLFA President emphasized that football knows no boundaries and should unite the country beyond politics, race, or region.
Community members in Makeni expressed appreciation to the SLFA President and his Executive Committee for the project and their continued support for football development.
