The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and National Grand Coalition (NGC) Progressive Alliance will this morning officially launch its 2023 Elections Manifesto at the Eastern Technical University in Kenema city.

National Publicity Secretary for the SLPP, Lahai Lawrence Leema said the Manifesto contains new programmes and an agenda that will be implemented by the incumbent should the party win the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

He said the Party commenced the process few months ago with several eminent personalities within its rank and file appointed to serve in the Committee for the putting together of a new Manifesto.

Leema said the team completed it work and has handed over a draft copy to the leadership of the party for approval, adding that the SLPP 2023 Manifesto is going to be different from the current ‘New Direction’ Manifesto.

He said President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has already completed and implemented up to 90% of what he promised the people of Sierra Leone in 2018.

He however disclosed that the title of the SLPP 2023 Manifesto has not yet been made public, assuring that after launch today, the SLPP will ensure it is popularised nationwide for the ordinary people to understand.

“Among some of the key programmes expected in the new Manifesto are those of agriculture, health, education, ICT, infrastructure and improvement of social services for vulnerable people.” Leema said, while urging the Party’s membership and supporters to exercise patience.

Leader of the NGC, Hon. Alhaji Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella said the vision of the Alliance is to improve on the governance system in the country.

The country, he said, is currently facing some governance challenges as according to him, “we are living in a divided nation with increase in violence and political tension.”

He continued that in order to address these issues, there needs to be cooperation among political parties for national cohesion.

He called on NGC supporters to remain focused on the party’s internal activities as, according to him, they are currently working on a new constitution.

In a press statement issued last evening of yesterday, the leadership of the National Grand Coalition encouraged members both at home and abroad, who can make it to Kenema, to be part of the event, while also encouraging NGC Kenema members and supporters to be part of this event.
