Amidst widespread rumours on social and mainstream media that former SLPP flagbearer aspirant, Alpha Timbo is vexed and disappointed with the party for not awarding him the 2018 running mate office, both Mr. Timbo and the current running mate to Dr. Juldeh Jalloh.

It can be recalled that there have been rumours that Timbo has not been in good terms with the SLPP 2018 Presidential candidate, Julius Maada Bio and the party’s hierarchy, especially Dr. Jalloh for denying him in the running mate office. Contrary to this rumour, the two SLPP strongmen were recently photographed happily hugging themselves and sharing fun at a SLPP event, showing the world that they are and have always been together and happy.

In another development, Julius Maada Bio has assured the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) that no single blood should be dropped as a result of these elections. Bio gave PPRC this assurance as he signed the Codes of Conduct committing himself and supporters of the SLPP to peaceful elections at the PPRC Conference Room, Tower Hill, Freetown.

In signing the Codes of Conduct, Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio promised to cascade details of the Codes of Conduct to the SLPP membership and encouraged the commission to prevail on other political parties to do the same. Bio also said that he prayed that polling day will be like any normal day devoid of tension, acrimony and violence so that people can vote peacefully and later look forward to the genuine results. Bio urged the Commission to continue its good work in regulating political parties for a better Sierra Leone.

The Chairman of the Commission, Justice Hamilton lauded Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio for his pivotal role in initiating the peace process in the past and pleaded with him to maintain his stance on ensuring peaceful democratic elections. Copies of the Codes of Conduct were handed over to both Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio and his running mate, Dr. Juldeh Jalloh.

The Codes of Conduct were put together through the participation of political parties representatives, APPWA and APPYA to ensure the conduct of peaceful elections. Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio was accompanied by his Running Mate, Dr. Juldeh Jalloh, Hon. Rado Yokie, National Publicity Secretary, Lawrence Lahai Leema and senior party stakeholders, Kabineh Kallon.
