Leema ascertained that ever since Yumkella suspended his intentions for the flagbearership race of the SLPP, the party knew he would eventually leave, adding that Dr. Kandeh Yumkella willingly joined the SLPP and if he was unable to manage the heat of the political tempo and decided to quit, Leema said that he wish him well in his forthcoming endeavors.
Lahai Lawarence Leema added “When he talked about leaving the party leaning on the issue that the party has missed its values, of course it bothers me to ask the question whether he really understands what values the party has been operating on if you ask Kandeh Yumkella when he joined the SLPP, he will tell you he has not join the SLPP even up to two years, so what would he want to say about the previous value? Kandeh Yumkella has said openly that he is never a registered member of any political party nor is he a registered voter, so what does he even know about the internal democracy of the SLPP?” Leema asked.
He stated that Yumkella happened to be a new in the political arena of Sierra Leone, pointing out that the SLPP has it motto one people one country always, he bluffed that his party posses the number to win election, stating that the elections in 2007 and 2012 are elections that the SLPP never lost.
He mentioned that the party let go of the two elections, because they wanted to consolidate peace and tranquillity. Leema confirmed that Kandeh was not part of the SLPP and that they have been winning elections. “In fact the SLPP has been peaceful before his membership, until such a time when we decided to accommodate everybody, by accommodating every shades of opinion by registering him in the party and at this point he decided to leave, his absence will definitely result to no harm in the SLPP.” He emphasized.
The SLPP mouthpiece mentioned that since Dr. Yumkella suspended his bidding for the SLPP flagbearership race, every serious minded SLPP members are going with the phenomenon that Kandeh Yumkella is someone without a clear vision as to what he want.
