The day’s ride which commenced from the company’s headquarter at Freetown Road, Lumley attracted  over 50 cyclists (male and female) and executive members as they  peddled to Calaba Town in the east of the capital  before climaxing at the point of origin (Freetown Road, Lumley.)

According to the association’s Technical Director, Percy Nicol, as an association it was of great importance for them to contribute in their own way towards the fight against the Ebola virus in the country.

He said the one-day ride does not only allow them to do an Ebola awareness campaign but also helped the cyclists gain fitness after long time without competitive ride.

“This has been a long time plan for us as an association to contribute in our own way as a sporting discipline towards the Ebola fight. We are very much grateful to Smart Mobile for providing us the sponsorship and refreshment for the riders,” Nicol said adding that they hope to continue this new found love with the telecommunication company.

The NCA presidential hopeful further revealed that Smart mobile company could soon sponsor youth cyclists and also partner with the association in future activities.

Smart Mobile Telecom Public Relations and Brand Specialist, Richard William said decision to support the NCA is within their mandate in their Cooperate Social Responsibility adding that they want to continue their supports in helping the government fight the Ebola virus in the country.

He  said: “What we are doing with the NCA will send a strong message to the people out there as cycling is one sport that meet the people on their door steps that was why we were fully in support of the association when they came knocking.  This is not the first time we are contributing towards the Ebola fight as we have made several support to the 34 Military hospitals and others.”

William used the opportunity to encourage Sierra Leoneans to be part of Smart telecom to enjoy the best billing per seconds and the best data service offered in the country.

“Our data service is second to none and subscribers can enjoy internet browsing for a reduced rate,” the PR and Brand Specialist said.
