In his brief statement to the audience, the Director of SPT, Frederick Heneage, said that Sierra Pharma Tech has started operating in Falaba District in agricultural research.

He expressed appreciation to the chiefdom for the hospitality showed to them, adding that as a token of their appreciation for the warm welcome they have been awarded, the company is offering scholarship to 15 university students from the district, currently attending colleges in various parts of the country. As they have only started operation in the country for 2 years now, this gesture is just the beginning of better days to come.

He maintained that more will be done in the future as they continue operations there. The 15 students are attending the following colleges; LICSAL, IAMTECH, FBC, MMCET, IPAM and UNIMAK.

Speaking on behalf of his chiefdom, PC Hon. Fasalie K.D. Marah noted that the company has been in operation for just 2 years and is able to provide this type of help to the chiefdom, he is optimistic of further increase in the amount of scholarships offered in the coming years. He also welcomed the construction of roads in the chiefdom being undertaken by the SPT. He admonished the company to continue the good work as they will not regret it.

A student from IAMTECH expressed thanks and appreciation to SPT for the kind gesture, intimating that they will do all in their power to make good use of the scholarship given them. This help to achieve their academic pursuit will not be forgotten and in time they will reward the company.

In the distribution of physical cash to the students, the paramount chief was invited to witness the official handing over of the monies to the students according to the individual acceptance letters supplied to the company and the amount written therein.

13 students received the monies from the Director of SPT in the presence of their Paramount Chief, whilst the monies of the other 2 who were absent because they are taking exams, was received on their behalf by the paramount chief.
