Mohamed Rahman Swarray has officially assumed office as Sierra Leone’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, taking over from Timothy Kabba, who served in the position since August 2023.
Reflecting on his new responsibility, Swarray said he is “deeply humbled” by the confidence President Julius Maada Bio has continued to repose in him.
From Information and Communications, to Employment, Labour and Social Security, and now Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Swarray described his journey as a continuum of public service.
“From Information, to Labour, to Diplomacy; the portfolio may change, but the mission remains the same: service to Sierra Leone.”
Swarray says he enters the new role with humility, experience and determination, pledging to build on Sierra Leone’s diplomatic gains and strengthen the country’s voice, interests and standing on the international stage.
