The Apprentice in his opening speech reminded the audience that he had stayed in Makeni much longer than his homeland Port Loko. He therefore joined the masses in chanting the Sabanoh song which according to him was the appropriate song to welcome him. Apprentice Kanu stated that as a result of his long term stay in Makeni, he happened to be familiar with major stakeholders of the township. He further claimed that he has four houses in Bombali district and hence he is one of them. He said that the people in Makeni knew him more than those in Port Loko.  According to the Apprentice his visits to Makeni could be regarded like that of Jesus Christ of Nazareth moving with his ministry from Bethlehem to Nazareth.

“I therefore thought it fit to start my ministry by moving here to Makeni, the same goes for the prophet of Islam, Muhammad PBUH, who migrated from his home town of Mecca to Medina, where he established the powers of Islam. Therefore as I am starting my ministry, I leave my hometown Port Loko to be here in Makeni. The town where I started and learnt my apprenticeship”.     Dr. Kanu mentioned.                                                                                                                                                                    He said that the people of Makeni must not forget that President Ernest Bai Koroma, who doubles as the Chairman and Leader of the All People’s Congress party, was initially condemned and chased with machetes in Bombali, just because he established that he wanted to run for the presidential APC ticket.

President Koroma was taken to all sorts of courts in an attempt to derail him and today this is the Bombali and the President. We also saw that Ernest’s Bethlehem was Makeni but Port Loko was his Nazareth. He’s Mecca was Makeni, and his Medina was Port Loko.

Dr. Kanu emphasized that there is nothing wrong if he the Apprentice of President Koroma chooses to leave his Mecca-Port Loko to minister in Medina-Bombali. Alpha Khan told the crowd that Makeni is the place where he was taught to be the Apprentice and Ernest Koroma certified him with a license at the same town.

He further stated that he is the only Apprentice for President Koroma and there will be no other one. All other ones may be called the “Momoyas”, or “Perambulators”, hustling around him. APC party fifty years, ‘we are there from 2002, and up till now, I am still APC’ he noted.  “I am calling on all and sundry in Bombali to recommend me to my Boss, in order for me to continue his development zest and prowess” Alpha Khan ascertained.

Thousand of Makeni residents stomped the streets of the city to vividly send a message to everyone, that they declared their support for the Apprentice born from Port Loko, but bred in Makeni.

Therefore, all welcomed the true patriot of their town.  As a result of that one could see that the Apprentice plans to follow the path of his Boss, in order to sustain and protect the legacy of his Boss Agenda for Prosperity.

Makeni assured the Apprentice of their fullest support for his candidacy.
