Dr. Gbembo made the disclosure during a sensitization tour of officials of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority and stakeholders of the Western Area Rural District Council in Waterloo.

He furthered that Pillar four of the government’s agenda for prosperity banked on Infrastructural development and as a result of that the toll road was signed in May 2012, prior to a feasibility study that has been conducted by the relevant institution.

Dr. Gbembo added that the exercise had ignited debate in relation to the various prices levied on vehicle plying the route and the issue of an alternative route seems to be a challenge for the enormous road users.

Drivers as well as traders, who happened to be at the centre of the toll system, have expressed dissatisfaction over the listed prices for vehicles plying the route.

They lamented that the toll road fees was going to affect the local market especial those that trade in vegetables, fruits and all the seasonal food items that grown by provincial farmers in the interior of the country.

Over the previous week the government of Sierra Leone thorough its appropriate authority unveiled an alternative route, however, people are tetchy about  the current situation of the disclosed alternative route as they complained that the need for the road to be upgraded cannot be overemphasized.
