A new football talent identification initiative has helped two Sierra Leonean players transition from the domestic league to top-flight European football within just six months.
Ibrahim Turay and Sallieu Bah are the first success stories from the program launched by Steven Caulker and Morlai B. Kamara. Both players were scouted while working with the Sierra Leone national football team.
Turay joined Stjarnan FC in the Iceland Premier League last September and has already made a strong impression, playing eight matches, scoring three goals, and providing several assists.
Meanwhile, Bah recently signed for Zorya Luhansk in the Ukrainian Premier League. He has already played a full 90 minutes and registered an assist in the club’s 4-0 victory.
The initiative also provides mentorship for Sierra Leonean players abroad, including weekly calls and guidance to help them adjust to European culture, professionalism, and lifestyle.
Organizers say the program aims to continue identifying, nurturing, and mentoring more Sierra Leonean talents, creating stronger pathways for players from Sierra Leone to succeed in European football.
