The attendees sector demonstrated their support for the initiative by selecting senior officers as Gender Champions.

The GFP training covered the officers’ new GFP role and functions in their respective institutions, with all producing their own Gender Action Plan. Twenty officers volunteered to undertake an intensive GFP trainers course that introduced Instructional Methods, Target Audience Analysis, and media for gender training. The officers completed a detailed Gender Action Training Plan and briefed a panel of experts for their Final Assessment. Participants are now committed to deliver gender mainstreaming across their respective institutions.

The opening of the training involved speeches from Dr Memunatu Pratt from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone; Mr. David Tamba from MenGage-Sierra Leone, who spoke about gender perspective on men and boys; AIG Elizabeth Turay from SLP and Colonel Tucker from RSLAF. A spokesperson from ISAT said “the training was a strategic way of increasing gender awareness and capacity in the security sector and empowering personnel with the necessary skills, competence and confidence to deliver a lasting impact.”
