The National Leader of the Unity Party, Femi Claudius-Cole, has officially announced her intention to contest the 2028 general elections under the Unity Party banner, reaffirming her commitment to independent political leadership.
In an exclusive interview with Radio Democracy, Claudius-Cole was asked whether she would consider aligning with the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) or the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) for a potential mayoral position. She emphasized the importance of strategic thinking when considering political alliances.
“I know the value of collaboration and alliance, and one cannot just enter into an alliance without proper justification,” she stated.
Claudius-Cole stressed that any political partnership must be critically assessed and carefully planned, noting that alliances should not be pursued lightly or merely for convenience.
Her remarks come amid increasing public discourse on coalition building ahead of the 2028 elections, as smaller parties navigate Sierra Leone’s highly polarised political landscape.
