Honourable Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has engaged indigenes of Songo, Koya, Konta Line and Masimera towns in Port Loko district, Mile 91 town and Ronietta village in Yoni chiefdoms, Tonkolili district.

The purpose of the engagement was to thank the people for supporting and appreciating President Dr. Julius Maada Bio in his effort to develop the country especially in the areas of education, health and children’s welfare.

The vice president also informed the people on President Bio’s declaration of agriculture and food security as his flagship programme in his second term in office.

Vice President Jalloh told the people that President Bio will multiply and increase agricultural activities and food production in the country during his second term.

He said that the New Direction Government decision to decentralize tractors and other farm machineries to each district is aimed at bringing the farming tools closer to the farmers, compare to the recent past when tractors were shared among minister, Members of Parliament and other senior Government officials who packed those tractors in their compounds in Freetown.

He maintained that more tractors and farm implements will be decentralized, while fertilizers will be made available and accessible at local levels during President Bio’s second term in office.

He noted that since Sierra Leone is blessed with rain and vast land, the people should not suffer from hunger, and import food.

He referred to Koya chiefdom in Port Loko district as a beneficiary chiefdom of the Bio’s presidency with the establishment of the Industrial and Economic Trade zone that housed factories.

He explained that the Industrial Zone will provide jobs for the people of Koya chiefdom as well as open market space for trade, adding that the factories will bring development to the chiefdom.

He congratulated the new Paramount Chief Kompa Bonbonli III and presented him and the staff of office to the people of Koya at the Songo Town Barry.

In Konta Line and Masimera town, the honourable vice president informed the people on fulfilling his promised to facilitate the process for recruitment of forty-five teachers to get pin codes in the Masimera chiefdom.

He reiterated that forty-five teachers who were without pin codes during his visit last year to the chiefdom now have pin codes and are receiving salaries.

The vice president intervention emanated from request made by chiefdom authorities who pleaded with the second gentleman of the State to help the then non-pin coded teachers to get salaries.

Vice President Jalloh assured the people of Konta Line for the construction of the biggest hospital along the Bo-Masiaka Highway. But he appealed with the people to exercise patient with the Government, noting that when arrangements for the hospital is finalized, the construction work will commence.

He encouraged the people of Konta Line and Masimera town to work with the new Paramount Chief Bai Simera Nase III for the development of the chiefdom.

He emphasised for the people to work with the Paramount Chief to enable the Paramount Chief worked with the Government for the development of the chiefdom.

In Mile 91, Vice President Jalloh visited a private hospital called Community Health Foundation (CHF) built by a female nurse called Linda Muckson Sesay. He expressed his satisfaction of the hospital facility, describing the facility as excellent with modern equipment for the treatment of people.

He inspected the pharmacy unit, laboratory, examination room, female and maternity wards. He assured the Medical Superintendent of the hospital of Government of Sierra Leone support to the healthcare facility that provides medical services to the people.

Vice President Jalloh admonished indigenes of the two districts to support the vision of President Bio in order to bring development to remote parts in their districts.

He further encouraged the people to vote wisely in the June 24, 2023 general and presidential elections to ensure continuous tangible developments.

Aruna Mohamed Kamara, Public Relations Officer, Yoni Mabanta Development Oraganisation (YOMADO) said that the organisation was formed in December 2021 to address problems in the new de-amalgamated Lower Yoni Mabanta chiefdom, which was formerly amalgamated with Upper Yoni that then formed Yoni chiefdom in the Tonkilili chiefdom with Mile 91 as the biggest town.
