The Western Area Rural District Council (WARD-C) has been granted ‘Statutory Status to address developmental issues.

Raman Tom Farmer, Chief Administrator of WARD-C said with the newly gained statutory status of the WARD through the District Development Coordination Committee (DDCC), the Committee is now enshrined in the Revised Local Government Act of 2022.

He said it is dedicated to addressing developmental issues within the Western Area Rural District.

Farmer emphasised that the DDCC holds a crucial role in enhancing service delivery for the district’s residents and in complementing the endeavors of the central Government, particularly aligning with the flagship initiatives of His Excellency, President Rtd Brig. Julius Maada Bio, known as the “Big Five.”

During the meeting, CA Farmar urged the committee members to approach their duties with utmost seriousness and dedication, underlining the significance of the committee’s contributions to the district’s development.

To familiarize the new councilors with the DDCC and their pivotal role in supporting the committee’s mission for improved community service delivery, all councilors were invited to participate in the meeting and actively engage in meaningful discussions.

The session encompassed a review of the progress made on action points from the previous DDCC meeting, sector-specific reports from committees, and activities undertaken. The meeting featured participation from representatives of NAMED and the Ministry of Planning & Development, who offered their insights and observations regarding the proceedings.

The meeting concluded with an interactive session of questions and answers, fostering productive dialogue among attendees.

Ensuring the smooth conduct of the meeting, Mr. Alhassan Yillah, Deputy Chief Administrator, chaired the event.
