The Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Sierra Leone, Ambassador Wang Qing, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Trade, Alpha Ibrahim Sesay, at his Youyi Building Office, to assure him of China’s continued support and collaboration in promoting Trade and Investment and to enhance and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two Sister countries.

The Chinese Ambassador said that he will continue to support the Ministry in areas of capacity building and logistical support, as his country’s commitment to supporting President Julius Maada Bio’s development aspirations, within the framework of the five big game changers outlined in his manifesto.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Alpha Ibrahim Sesay, thanked the Ambassador for being the first high level Diplomat who represents one of the country’s biggest donor partners to visit his ministry, since his assumption of office and spoke about the significant trade relationship between the two countries.

He reiterated the fact that China being the lead trading partner for both our import and exports, it is imperative that the country works closely with the Ministry in areas of manufacturing, services, E-Trade, standards, and quality, emphasizing that with the establishment of a special economic zone, Sierra Leone is open for business and to become a lucrative investment destination.

In closing, the Chinese Ambassador extended an invitation to the Minister to participate in the Annual Import and Export Trade Fair, scheduled for November this year, in Shanghai, China.
