“Out of concerned and curiosity I shouted at her to stop” She said. Grace further explained that when she asked the young lady why she wanted to kill innocent child, she told her that she did not want the baby anymore.

Speaking to AYV News, the teenager said she has been receiving maltreatments from her Mother whom she said is currently disappointed at her for being a mother at her tender age.

She disclosed that her mother accused her of not being empathetic to the constraints confronting her, as a single parent raising her together with her junior sisters.

She said she used to be a brilliant pupil in School but was negatively influenced by her peers ‘to date the Okada/bike rider’ who impregnated her.

She further explained that when the Okada Rider denied the pregnancy, her mother developed hatred for her, which she eventually extended to her child.

She said when she delivered the baby, her mother threatened to harm her, if she did not evict the baby out of their house, noting that her mother told people in their neighborhood that she feels provoked  whenever she sees her suckling the baby.

“I want my mother to love me again, and I regret getting pregnant, that is why I attempted to kill my child” the teenager confessed.

However, Kaitibie has offered to take care of the baby. She noted that she has reached her menopause and has only sons; therefore she expressed delight to serve as a foster parent to the baby girl whose life she saved.

“I have finally found the daughter I have been yearning for, and she is beautiful and chubby” She said.

The mother of the teenager declined talking to AYV News on the issue, but rather told Kaitibie to take the child away if she wants.

Prince Brima of the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs in Bo District said child abandonment is prevalent in the District.

He said they as a ministry are working with Sierra Leone Police in the District to cob the crime.
