According to Cornelius Deveaux, Deputy Minister of Information who doubles as APC Deputy Public Relations Officer, his party will be out on the streets today to demonstrate to the general public and the world at large that the APC does not only have numbers but that its members are peaceful, tolerant and non-violent. He said over local radio and television stations recently that his party is poised to win the March 7, 2018 elections not only because the APC has proved its mettle executing development projects that were in the pipeline under past administrations, but that the APC exhibited a sense of responsibility and performance which is exceptional by any standards comparable to that done by past administrations.

The APC 2018 Manifesto among other things states that in the area of good governance, it shall focus on the grassroots, ensuring their greater inclusion in the socio-economic and political life of the country in all our programmes and also through the following: Promoting the  inclusion of the common man and woman in the national insurance health scheme; specially target the common men and women in financial inclusion schemes; enhance the registration of lands and such other assets which may be collaterised for low interest loans and other financial inclusion schemes; among several other intentions.

It can be recalled that the National Secretariat of the APC has in a press statement informed all its members, supporters and organs that 28th February is the mutually agreed date with NEC for the party to hold its final rally in the western area.

“Consequently we intend to paint Freetown red tomorrow by doubling our nomination day numbers. While some other parties intend to import rented crowds from the provinces we advise our provincial membership to stay up country and continue their campaigning. The APC Western Area has the numbers for the purpose,” the statement noted.

The statements further admonished its members and supporters to observe law and order in the best interest of public safety and the interest of their party, adding that its marshals will be in attendance to assist the police in ensuring decorum throughout the day.
