‘The representation of women must increase this coming election; we should be the advocate of our destinies, because who feels it knows it’, she stated.

Mrs Jengo furthered that most times people make bylaws or create rough situations to halt women from participating or taking leadership positions, but warned all not to consider taking the backseat for men as an option.

She said that the silent suffering that women have been subjected to over the years needs to end.

She added that women should maintain key positions in their various parties in order to break the tribal and religious chains that have been existing in the political arena of Sierra Leone. She warns all to discourage the idea of breaking confidence of others in vying for political positions.

‘The training is timely and very significant’, noted Aminata Sesay, a representative of National Grand Coalition Movement (NGC), one of the newly formed political parties that has received provisional registration certificate from the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC)

She further commended WoFRAD for such a move, promising that they ‘stand ready to step into the frontline in the battle with men to be national officers’ in their various political parties.
