Making Talent Mobility a Catalyst for Recovery and Development in Sierra Leone, participants learned about the benefits of the WATMP.

The workshop which also focused on economic commonality and talent exhibition in Sierra Leone, attracted various government ministries, departments and agencies.

Giving a background of West Africa Talent Mobility Partnership, the Coordinator of the event, Mr. Peter Ganda said the partnership started in Sierra Leone in 2014, with the primary objective of accelerating programme for economic integration and regional discussion about countries in the Mauritius and Zambia areas. He said the initiative cut across the West African region, hosted in Ghana and Ghanaians brought the project to Sierra Leone where the country signed up to the international working group.

The Development Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, John Sumaila noted that the Talent Mobility Partnership project will provide avenue for Sierra Leone to showcase its skills and professionalism to neighboring countries and vice versa.

The West Africa Talent Mobility Partnership is going to serve as a tool to broaden the focus on peoples development beyond jobs to include opportunities for career development in specialist skills required to support implementation of Agenda for Prosperity. The partnership is invaluable for disseminating labour market information and easing mobility on the organizational and regional levels.
