Rev. Fr. Prof. Joseph A. Turay’s dream come true of the R C Mission’s formation to the University of Makeni (UNIMAK) and the overall plan to eventually transform the entire educational landscape of especially this new Athens. The Institution, UNIMAK is blessed with the very proactive Director of Administration and Finance in the person of Rev. Fr. Benjamin Sesay; who recounted their successes and challenges.

UNIMAK started as the Fatima Institute in September 2005 and in 2009 obtained university status and presently boasts of more than 1,500 students. The main aim of the university is to promote Religious, Political, Social and Economic Development of the people in Africa.

In order for the sustainability of their work and for the up keep of students, the Government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and partners are to direct resources to help augment costs for studies either through grants or soft loan scheme or any other better plan to help the good of all in the promotion of the education pillar in the Agenda for prosperity in Sierra Leone.
