The team which has now arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, includes a reputable medical practitioner – Dr Donald Harding, two International Criminal Defence and Human Rights Lawyers – Ibrahim S. Yillah and Melron Nicol-Wilson, Mr Jonathan las-Lamin of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Ethiopia and Mr Paul Wright, Adviser to the residual Special Court.
The team will participate in and witness the autopsy in Kigali and then proceed to the Rwanda correctional service facility close to the Congolese border to interview Inmates and Correctional Service Officers as well as members of the Rwandan police all with a view to ascertaining the cause of death.
It is expected that the corpse will be handed over to the Team and the wife of the deceased for burial in Sierra Leone upon completion of the inquest.
