He maintained however that even though this is not the first time that a national cleaning exercise is being conducted, he is happy to note that the exercise was generally successful due to active participation of all stakeholders including MDAs, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and other stakeholders.

According to the Vice President he feels impressed and excited over the massive turnout of people to clean the country, adding that with the general determination portrayed by citizens to keep the city clean, they will do everything possible as a government in responding to popular determination to clean the city.

“We are not cleaning Freetown for SLPP or for the government. We are cleaning it for the people of Freetown and the country at large to breathe fresh air,” Dr. Juldeh told AYV.

“Today is the first day for our newly-instituted cleaning day exercise and we are overcoming the challenges because of the people’s determination to clean the country,” Dr. Juldeh said.
