This is according to Executive Director HEAL Salone, Joseph Sannoh. He made this statement during the launch of the 2018 Education Trade Fair at the organization’s headquarters in Freetown.

According to Sannoh the education trade fair is a one month activity that will target 3 million school going children nationwide, adding that it will serve as an educative platform for pupils.

Sannoh continued to say they would ensure that the content, benefit, target and coverage of the free quality education program in the country is popularized, adding that they will use the education trade fair as a platform for learning opportunities.

“Learning opportunities can be health education,” Sannoh said adding that the National AIDS Secretariat, NASSIT, EPA, NRA among others will be there to teach pupils as well.

The Education Trade Fair according to Sannoh will serve as a center for career guidelines, stating that many students have misconceptions about their careers by following their friend’s paths; which is an issue that would be adequately addressed, he said.

The Chairperson of the Teaching Service Commission Dr. Beckley reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to the initiative saying that Sierra Leone has come a long way in implementing the free quality education initiative.

“We are committed to supporting this initiative,” she said adding that the teaching sector will encourage any sector or NGO that chooses to promote education.
