Delivering the sermon, Rev. Father Joseph E. Bangura commended the late President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah for setting up NASSIT, adding that the pillars of NASSIT are faith and resilience which makes them continue to grow from strength to strength.

Rev. Bangura called on the NASSIT management to use the occasion as a moment to reflect on the challenges and become more visible in the country so that, the misconception people hold against the institution will be changed and that will give confidence to more people to join the scheme.

He said NASSIT should consider investing in low-cost housing so that the average Sierra Leonean can afford to own a house.

He however warned that NASSIT should not be operated based on politics as politicians come and go but NASSIT is established to serve the people forever.

Delivering his keynote address, the Director General of NASSIT, Mohamed Fouad Daboh, informed his audience that Muslim and Christian services are held by staff of the Trust at the end of every year to pray for their fallen colleagues and to ask God for guidance and mercy in their daily operations.

He added that despite numerous challenges, NASSIT continues to deliver on their mandate in ensuring that members are duly and timely paid their benefits as and when a contingency occurs.

“Since my appointment as Director General of this institution on 30th May, 2018 I held several meetings with staff across the country during which I informed them that one of my main objectives is to put operations and benefits payment at the center of our business as they are the reason for the establishment of the scheme”, he said.
