The #Africa4Future business accelerator programme was launched in October 2018, with the goal of supporting entrepreneurship in Africa. The challenge aimed to identify talented African entrepreneurs that are using innovative aerospace technologies to tackle the continent’s challenges. Ten winners emerged out of 314 entries from 19 African countries. Track Your Build was the only Sierra Leonean company among the winners.
The ten winning companies will participate in a rigorous 6-month business accelerator programme in France, Germany and South Africa involving one-on-one coaching with Airbus experts. The programme will conclude in June with finalists showcasing their products at the Paris International Air Show and presenting to representatives in the aerospace industry at a special event in Germany.
Track Your Build’s founder Edmond Nonie has a rich history of entrepreneurship and job-creation in Sierra Leone. In 2014 he founded Go Shop, the country’s first online shopping site which enabled customers to order items online and have it delivered to them in Sierra Leone. In 2015 Edmond became one of five Sierra Leonean entrepreneurs to be accepted into the prestigious Tony Elumelu African Entrepreneurship program, where he received mentorship and seed funding to build his enterprise.
Track Your Build Ltd was launched in 2016 with the aim of enabling Africans living in the diaspora to implement construction projects back home with improved transparency and accountability. Using geo-referenced drone mapping and aerial surveillance, TYB Ltd enables building construction to be monitored from anywhere in the world. In August 2017 TYB was actively involved in the humanitarian response to the Regent mudslide that left hundreds of people dead. Working closely with first responders, Edmond and his team conducted drone mapping that was used in risk assessment of crisis and danger zones and post-crisis analysis.
In early 2018 the company expanded to Nigeria, where its headquarters are currently based. Today, Track Your Build has broadened their range of services to include smart infrastructure management, oil & gas project mapping and monitoring, and telecommunications infrastructure inspections.
TYB’s clients are private citizens, private sector companies, NGOs, and governments that are building or upgrading new and existing infrastructure and need high-quality data for project management and asset maintenance. The company has implemented projects for development organizations such as UNOPS, the World Bank, and the International Security Advisory Team (ISAT) SL.
TYB’s services save time, reduce cost and maximize productivity. In 2019 the company is expected to strengthen their collaboration with Airbus, GIZ and other partners, develop new products, and expand to other African countries.
