In a ground-breaking collaboration, Google has partnered with the Directorate of Science, Technology, and Innovation (DSTI) Sierra Leone to embark on the digitisation of physical addresses across the country. This strategic alliance aims to overhaul accessibility and streamline efficiency in various service sectors.

The primary objective of this partnership is to develop a comprehensive digital mapping system that accurately records and represents physical addresses in Sierra Leone. By doing so, the initiative seeks to address infrastructure gaps and improve the delivery of essential services, such as mail distribution, emergency response, and urban planning.

Abdul Malik Tejan-Sie, Director of the Directorate of Science, and Technology, expressed his appreciation for the partnership with Google.

He emphasised that DSTI is dedicated to enhancing this collaboration to foster technology and innovation for a more prosperous Sierra Leone. Working together, we are firmly committed to shaping a brighter future through innovative solutions.

Sierra Leone, like many developing nations, grapples with challenges related to inadequate infrastructure, particularly concerning addressing systems. Through the digitisation of addresses, the partnership aims to bridge this gap and streamline administrative processes, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.

Access to accurate address information is vital for navigation and accessibility, especially in urban areas. By leveraging technology, Google and DSTI aim to enhance navigation systems and make it easier for residents, businesses, and emergency services to locate specific addresses, thereby improving efficiency and reducing logistical challenges.

Overall, the partnership between Google and DSTI Sierra Leone represents a concerted effort to harness technology for positive social change. By addressing infrastructure challenges and building a more digitally inclusive society, the initiative has the potential to have a significant socio-economic impact in Sierra Leone.
