Sam Walker, a British Born who traced his root back to Sierra Leone has volunteered to fund children living with Cataracts in the east end of Freetown.

Speaking to AYV, Walker said if there are doctors in Sierra Leone that can do Surgery for Cataracts he will pay for more children to be operated, noting that in the United Kingdom where he came from, millions of pounds are been put together every year to help children in Africa living with Cataracts.

He said that fund is not reflective in Sierra Leone. He commended His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and his wife Dr. Fatima Maada Bio for champion charity for young girl in the country through the Hands Off Our Girls project.

He said: “There is no first lady in world with such initiative of charity like Dr. Fatima Maada Bio”.

In similar development, Walker assured that he will help slum communities that are struggling for water through the provision of Water Tanks.

Kadijatu Gibrill Fofanah is one of beneficiaries of Walkers’ gesture. She thanked Sam Walker for offering to fund her Surgery, noting that she has been facing continued stigma and neglect from friends in her school and even in the community.

She said her family has spent lots of money moving from one hospital to the other to find cure but to no avail.

Cataracts is described as a shadow in the eyes which enable someone not to see clearer and the only way it can be healed is through eye surgery.
