Premium Divine Trading Company Limited, an official agent and distributor of Promasidor Holdings, has strongly dismissed recent claims circulating on social media alleging that the ONGA Maggi kills grass and it is harmful to consumers.

The company described the circulating allegations as false and misleading, stating that the sodium (salt) contained in all Maggi products kills grass.

The company urges the public not to rely on unverified social media videos and claims about the safety of food products.

The clarification follows a widely circulated video in which a woman allegedly made claims questioning the safety of ONGA Maggi and warning consumers against its use.

Premium Divine has reaffirmed its confidence in the product, noting that ONGA is a widely used seasoning brand in Sierra Leone, with varieties including Shrimp, Chicken, Beef, Ginger, Onion and Garlic.

The company further highlighted its continued presence in communities through initiatives such as the ONGAAwojor Fiesta cooking competitions and community food distribution programmes.

Meanwhile, social media influencer Ann-Marie Sesayhas condemned the rumour, calling on the public to demand credible evidence before accepting or sharing claims that could damage a brand’s reputation.

Sesay also urged the manufacturers to consider appropriate legal action against individuals who deliberately spread false information about the product.

As the rumour continues to circulate online, consumers are being encouraged to verify information through credible and authorised sources before sharing or acting on unverified claims.
