Led by Police Prosecutor, Sergeant 549 Marie Marco, the witness said that on the date of the incident which ‘happened to be late at night’, she asked the accused to pay back the Le700,000 which he owed her, stating that she wanted to use the money for ante-natal purposes.
“He has not been caring for me since I became pregnant. When I insisted that he refund my money, he said he will kill me and go to jail for one month,” she explained.
She added that the accused verbally abused her, threatening that he will beat her until she started discharging liquid from her private part.
“When I could not do anything, he left me lying down in the dark and shut the door against me”.
Meanwhile, the accused who has been on bail was remanded by the said Magistrate because he was absent on two adjourned dates. Although the defence counsel, Victor T. Biandoma had applied for the restraining of the bench warrant issued on behalf of the accused on the ground that the accused was sick and that he has the sick report to prove so, the Magistrate said he was remanding the accused because he only appeared in court after two bench warrants, noting that he received no information about his illness.
The matter was adjourned to the 17th May 2016.
