The items include waste bins, veronica buckets, liquid soaps, hand sanitizers, bin liners, infrared thermometers and gloves.

Presenting the items, the National Coordinator, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Unit, Nanah Sesay Kamara said the items were brought to the centre as a result of a need assessment conducted few days ago by the unit in health facilities in the Western Area.

She informed them that the IPC Unit did quarter three needs assessment in various health facilities and observed major gaps in infection prevention and control, adding that there is need to support these centres to address the gaps.

Madam Nanah Sesay Kamara reiterated that now that they have identified the gaps, the IPC team will remain in the centre to support the IPC Focal and staff in terms of strengthening and reinforcing the message that IPC is expected at each centre and that they should be ready to address it.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Health Centre, the Community Health Officer (CHO) In-Charge, Dwarzack Community Health Centre, Barba Musa expressed thanks and appreciations to the IPC Unit for the timely support to the centre.

He said the gesture came at a time when it was needed most and assured the team that the items will be used for its intended purpose.
