He informed his audience that though it is not a secret that Sierra Leone is well known for its minerals endowment, the country is yet to derive from the benefits of its mineral resources.

He went on to say that the mineral resources sector has been marred by bad governance, and chaotic management over the last decades, adding that the driving force behind the SLPP government’s commitment is geared towards ensuring that the country’s mineral endowments are sufficiently harnessed in a manner that will spur social and economic development, as well as producing real benefits to the country, investors and the mining communities.

The Vice President went further to state that the policies presented are comprehensive path to a promising prospect on improved governance of the mining and mineral sector.
