Police alleged that the accused person Foday Kamara conspired together with other persons unknown; broke and entered into the residence of complainant, George Davies at No.1 Huggin Street at Fourh Bay within the Freetown judicial district of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

Court records further indicated that the accused person and his co-conspirators who are on the run, attacked the complainant at the above residence on 19 November 2017 with knives and cutlasses, and carted away with physical cash and valuable household items, all to the total value of forty six million, five hundred and forty thousand Leones.

In her testimony, the second prosecution witness, Lillian Davies told the court that she recognized the accused, Foday Kamara and also recalled the incident of 19 November 2017.

She testified that on the night of the aforementioned incidence, she was together with her husband, George Davies when she heard a loud bang at the gate and door of their residence.

According to Lillian Davies, within a twinkle of an eye, the accused and his accomplices burst into her parlor, brandishing cutlasses and knives, and threatened to kill them, if they refused to give money on demand.

“Some of the robbers rushed into my bedroom and threatened to chop me up with cutlasses, while the others rushed into of the toilets, where my husband was hiding,” Lillian George lamented.

The witness went further to say that she later called out to her husband, George Davies and asked him whether he had any money, and her husband  responded in the affirmative,

She added that her husband was about to hand over the sum of five million Leones to the robbers, when one of them rudely snatched away the money.

The witness also informed the court that on the following morning, they reported the matter at the Ross Road Police Division, after which statements were obtained from them.

The accused, Foday Kamara was later nabbed by the police through the witness’ mobile phone which he held on to after the robbery.

The matter was prosecuted by Inspector Marie Marco Sesay and the accused Foday Kamara was represented by Lawyer J.M Jengo.

Magistrate Santigie Bangura refused the accused person bail and ordered that he be kept at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown and adjourned the matter to 3 July 2018.
