According to the organizer Isata Harding, this is the first time Sierra Leone is invited to such a competition. She added that this is the first time Sierra Leone has been invited, and that her organization has also received an invitation to the World Spelling Bee Competition taking place in July next year in the United States of America.
Speaking to AYV, a few of the competitors representing Sierra Leone in Kampala, Uganda gave their views about the competition and on what they feel about taking part in the contest for the first time in Africa.
The six children that are currently in Kampala, Uganda left in very high spirits while they urged their parents and the general public to pray for them and give them support for them to emerge victorious.
