He went on to say that such an allegation totally undermines national security and capability of the SLP to secure the electoral process. According to him a lot has been invested in the security sector considering the fact that elections are round the corner.

He said as far as policing the elections, the SLP is will demonstrate its integrity by maintaining strict neutrality, adding that the SLP is a disciplined and responsible force.

He commended Police Cyber Unit that helped track down the source and culprit of the offending social media post. He is Abdul Sesay and claims to be a third year student of Faculty of Arts, Fourah Bay College. He is currently helping the police with investigations to bring in his accomplices if any to face the full consequence of the law.

The police chief allayed the fear of Sierra Leoneans and the international community stating that the SLP will remain non-partisan and strive to maintain integrity in providing security on the March 7, 2018 elections in collaboration with their partners.

He used the opportunity to call on citizens to desist from using social media to incite insecurity. He warned that the SLP is capacitated to clamp down people using social media wrongly to cause strife and that the SLP will not take kindly on defaulters.
