She said the US$5, 000. 00 (Five thousand United States Dollars) project has helped to transform the lives of vulnerable women in the district, adding that with soap-making as an income generating activity, the poor women have got something to do than before.

One of the beneficiaries, Bintu Lebbie, disclosed that although the start-up capital is not enough, she would try to manage it well so that at the end of the day, she would be able to send her children to school.

She expressed hope that the soap business would settle some of their needs.

An expert in disability issues, Kabakeh Noah, who is attached to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, admonished the beneficiaries to use the cash for its intended purpose.

He called on organizations working in the interest of disabled persons to bring up project proposals to cater to the educational needs of physically challenged people in the country.

Chairman of the Commission for Persons with Disability, Fredrick J.M. Kamara, intimated that the Commission is understaffed to carry out its due functions like monitoring the learning environment of persons with disability.
