The president of the organization, Dr. Fatou Taqi Stated that the aim of the two days training of trainers’ workshop was to empower female correctional officers with the necessary skills to participate in leadership processes throughout Sierra Leone, with a view to increasing the number of women in all works of life, especially in the aspect of leadership and decision-making processes.

Director of Training from the Sierra Leone Correctional Service, Mr. Ahmed Turay said the training was the first training organized by an outside organization. He urged the 50/50 group to continue the process of embarking on such training in order to increase women’s participation in all leadership fronts.

He further   cautioned the female correctional officers to take the training very serious and implement what they have been taught.

The training is expected to continue in order for women to be empowered to participate freely without any hindrances of incapability.

The 50/50 group comprises women of substance in Sierra Leone, as they tend to promote gender parity through training and advocacy.
