Making an official statement marking the occasion, the result-oriented Minister of Energy, Alhaji Ibrahim Kanja Sesay, informed the mammoth gathering that his New Direction government as with education, has the electrification of every corner of Sierra Leone – North, West, East and South as fundamental priority.

He revealed that after his appointment; he and his Deputy Dr. Tunde Eldred Taylor together with senior members of the ministry went on the rampage to attract private investment in the Energy sector.

Alhaji Kanja Sesay went on to say that as a result, SELI Hydropower expressed interest to invest, adding that this would open up the country in general and the Energy sector in particular to more investment, adding that this would be beneficial to the country and Diang Chiefdom in particular.

He stated further that individuals living around the dam area will be relocated to a comfortable and safe location while more than four thousand jobs would be created.

Handing over the documents for the land to the Minister of Energy on behalf of his people, the Paramount Chief Sheika Magba Koroma praised Almighty God for the opportunity which is bringing development to his chiefdom. He added that his chiefdom is also rich in gold, titanium and iron ore.    

On his part, the Executive Officer and shareholder of SELI Hydropower Mr. Beckley informed his audience that his company was in partnership with credible investors based in the United States. He explained that at long last, the SLPP Government is building the Bumbuna Phase Two Hydropower, adding that his company will do everything within its mandate to ensure that they perform as expected.

The occasion was graced by government ministers, public, private partners and representatives from local and international organizations from all walks of life and officials of the Ministry of Energy.
