DIP Supports Ebola Survivors with Startup Kits

 It is against this backdrop that the Development Initiative Programme (DIP) with main  focus are to enhance the capacity and resilience of Ebola affected communities, improve the socio-economic wellbeing of survivors, orphans and vulnerable children and to mitigate the awful impact of Ebola in the targeted communities.

The institution also has plans  to support  other  communities including  Mabella, Susan’s Bay, Kroo Bay, Dwzark, Mallama, Allen town, Kuntullon and Rokupa among others with startup kits. 

 

Yusuf Kabbah  National President of the Sierra Leone Ebola Survivors said during the presentation ceremony said his organization has held series meets with organizations  trying to help Ebola survivors for support but keep promising them stating that  “as survivors, we survive for a reason” and however cautioned his colleagues to appreciative  the gift they have already received from DIP.

 

He also urges his colleagues to make good use of what is being given to them by the Development Initiative Programme.

Koroma is Senior Social Service Officer (Research) Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs (MSGCA),  said the issue of Ebola survivors continued to be part of the Ministry’s  agenda, and however describe the moves made by the Development Initiative Programme as timely.

 

In her statement, the Deputy Coordinator Development Initiative Programme Hawa Rosaline Siafa  said this is not her first time in supporting these communities, as before now they have intervene in several development al strides to uplift their standards of living. Having worked with them at the peak of the bola disease in the country, they had noticed that most of them have become orphans, with lots of others in a vulnerable state.

 

This is just a start to the project she said, and however adding that they are only complimenting the efforts of the government. She however calls on the beneficiaries to make good use of the resources that is being provided to them.
