Justice Samba sentenced Abass Kargbo for sexually penetrating a child contrary to the Sexual Offences Act for a prison term of 9 years while John Pearce was sent down for 3 years for robbery of properties worth over seven million Leones (Le7,000,000).
Submitting the ruling in which Abass Kargbo was convicted for sexually penetrating a victim who at the time of the act was mentally insane and sick of epilepsy, AGM Bockarie called on the court to sentence the convict to the maximum term of imprisonment for such offence and to compensate the victim in the sum of five million Leones (Le5, 000,000).
In his submission, AGM Bockarie told the court that the convict Abass Kargbo on the 21st October 2014 had sexual intercourse with the victim knowing fully well that the victim was a child and was both physically and mentally ill, adding that such inhuman act deserved a stiffer penalty to send signal to potential offenders.
Meanwhile, State Prosecutor AGM Bockarie submitted to the court that Dr. Owizz Koroma will on 4th May testify on the alleged manslaughter case, stating that the doctor is engaged in preparing documents regarding the matter, which he wants to tender in the court.
The eight (8) officers who include: Inspector John Bai Sankoh, Momoh Bangura, Gibril Bangura, John Karimu, Issa Sankoh, Mohamed Kamara, Mary Nallo and Alpha Conteh are charged with the offence of manslaughter.
