Sierra Leone is sweet to do business: Ghanaian Businessman testifies

The group’s mission is to contribute to the socio economic development of Africa by applying top range technology and expertise to all sectors of the economy and to provide jobs by being the largest private sector employer in Africa. As a group which believes on local markets in any country, the Chief Executive Officer for the Jospong Group said he came to Sierra Leone in other to help recover the economic situation of the country especially to help in the government printing department. He said although he has worked and operates his companies in many parts of Africa, Sierra Leone is very much encouraging and most of the people he had met have passion and love for business individuals.After landing at Freetown International Airport, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong told a group of journalists in Lungi that his group is engaged in the business of Tourism, Oil and Gas, Agriculture, Automobile and Products Assembling, Construction, Real Estate, Waste Management, Water Processing, Mining, Printing and Events Management. He said the establishment of the Group began in 1980 with a few subsidiaries, mainly in the printing industry. In the last couple of decades, the Jospong Group of Companies has grown in leaps and bounds and now comprises of 32 subsidiaries which are into varying business ventures in response to increasing need and demand for quality products and services in the different sectors of Ghana and Africa’s vibrant economies.

The Jospong Group of Companies currently represents 16 Chinese companies, 8 Indian companies and 5 European companies in Ghana. The Company’s trade volume with these companies is worth US$4,360,000,000. The Group has generated over 98,000 jobs under various innovative collaborations with Governments and the private sector all over Africa and it expected that Sierra Leone will soon benefit from the lots jobs provided by the company.

In a statement, Joseph Siaw Agyepong said their experience in China and beyond gives then the cause to believe that most trade and business cooperation are focused on the Government sector mainly with little collaboration with the private sector; which is indeed the engine of growth and job creation in Africa. “We have no doubt that most African private businesses would want to see an expanded cooperation in Africa that is geared towards strengthening the Private Sector in Africa; Private (African)-to-Private investor or venture, partnerships, Private Business Grants or special business loans from Government and similar types of business cooperation” he said.
