Making a brief statement prior to handing over the keys, Mr Saidu Conton Sesay said they succeeded in convincing Department for International Development (DFID) to hand over vehicles and other equipment used during the recovery programme to support and build the capacity of local councils. He stated that the vehicles and other equipment will be passed on to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development which would hand over the vehicles to the Chief Administrators. A draft agreement was signed as a way of commitment to handle the assets with proper care.

Delivering a statement on behalf of his Minister, the Deputy Minister Hadiru Kalokoh said the partnership between the Presidential Delivery Team and the ministry has helped to build and understand the challenges in the delivery of programmes and activities. He underscored the significance of the local councils and assured that the assets will be speedily transferred.

Representative of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation Mrs. Karen Baimaro described the transfer of the vehicles as laudable considering the pivotal role played by the local councils in the implementation of government programmes. He urged the councils to handle the assets with care and used them for the purpose for which they are being provided.
